It focuses on several buildings <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/concord-mill-dam-company-properties-on-the-walling-map-1852\">in town<\/a>, providing a detailed history of each with links to related primary sources, many of which are held in the library&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\">William Munroe Special Collections<\/a>. One of the buildings featured on the website is the former <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/AndersonMarket\">Anderson Market<\/a> at 42-44 Main Street (<a href=\"http:\/\/mhc-macris.net\/Details.aspx?MhcId=CON.13\">listed as 32 Main Street in MACRIS<\/a>). The website provides a detailed history of the building across 29 web pages with numerous links to primary material. <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/the-architecture-of-the-anderson-market-building\">The structure<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/the-concord-mill-dam-company-1826\">one of the earliest<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/additional-concord-mill-dam-company-properties-not-before-1826\">many commercial buildings<\/a> erected by the <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/concord-mill-dam-company-stockholders-and-property-holdings-april-1838\">Mill Dam Company<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/changing-the-face-of-the-mill-dam-the-influence-of-the-concord-mill-dam-com\">developed<\/a> Concord&#8217;s downtown <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/the-concord-mill-dam-company-1826\">starting in 1826<\/a>. The building was <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/thoreau-surveys\">surveyed<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/october-31st-1855-entry-in-henry-david-thoreaus-surveying-field-notes\">Henry David Thoreau<\/a> in 1853. It was <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/doing-business-on-the-mill-dam-circa-1907\">occupied<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/all-manner-of-business-the-anderson-market-building-during-the-mid-nineteen\">various businesses in the nineteenth century<\/a>, including a hatter&#8217;s shop, <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/asa-colliers-clock-and-watch-repair-business-1840s-1880s\">a watch shop<\/a>, a milliner, and eventually <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/successionOfStores\">a succession of grocery stores<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/lars-anderson\">Lars Anderson<\/a> and his son <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/leslie-o-anderson\">Leslie<\/a> bought <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/doing-business-on-the-mill-dam-circa-1907\">the business<\/a> in 1913, establishing Anderson&#8217;s Market. Leslie married <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/esther-anderson-and-the-wheeler-family-farm\">Esther Wheeler<\/a> in 1920 and their son, <a href=\"https:\/\/concordlibrary.org\/special-collections\/buildinghistories\/andersonmarket\/andersons-market-notes-49th-birthday-april-1962\">David &#8220;Andy&#8221; Anderson<\/a>, would become the third generation to run the market.
