An earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=9hiR5QPZ35gC&#038;lpg=PP1&#038;pg=PA98#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">St. Peter&#8217;s<\/a> was erected in 1854 at the corner of Cottage and Russell Streets. Construction began on the current church in 1904, using <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=_R4TOM9JO1IC&#038;pg=PA604#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">marble quarried in Egremont<\/a>.
