Buschmann<\/a> established the Railroad House Hotel on Depot Square, near the <a href=\"http:\/\/mass.historicbuildingsct.com\/?p=7693\">train station<\/a>, in Westfield. In 1899 his son, Thomas Buschmann, hired architect <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Augustus_W._Holton\">Augustus W. Holton<\/a> to design <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardcow.com\/444782\/hotel-bismarck-westfield-massachusetts\/\">a larger hotel<\/a> to replace the existing one. Called the <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=4ExJAQAAMAAJ&#038;lpg=PA264&#038;ots=dAnHuHL0ad&#038;dq=bismarck%20hotel%20westfield&#038;pg=PA264#v=onepage&#038;q=bismarck%20hotel%20westfield&#038;f=false\">Bismarck Hotel<\/a>, it opened in 1900. <a href=\"http:\/\/mhc-macris.net\/Details.aspx?MhcId=WSF.417\">The building<\/a> (16 Union Avenue) continued <a href=\"http:\/\/homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com\/~shirleyb\/jacobsladder\/bismarckhotel.html\">as a hotel<\/a> until 1930, after which it housed a series of small industrial firms.
