Butterfield<\/a>, previously a finisher at Parsons&#8217; Paper Mill in <a href=\"http:\/\/lostnewengland.com\/2014\/07\/paper-mills-holyoke-mass\/\">Holyoke<\/a>, started the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zapix.com\/holyokemass\/hcv_1879\/val.html\">Valley Paper Company<\/a> and built <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nonotuck.us\/kens\/Holyoke_Paper_Mills\/Valley%20Paper\/index.html\">a new mill<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/stevedunwell.photoshelter.com\/image\/I0000EXNK98mIu5Q\">the bend of the Second Level Canal<\/a>, near the South Hadley Bridge (<a href=\"http:\/\/mhc-macris.net\/Details.aspx?MhcId=HLY.7\">4 North Bridge Street<\/a>). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/33445721@N04\/15599728705\">A wing<\/a> extending toward the Connecticut River was built in 1877.
