By 1887 it was the residence of <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=J-tMAAAAMAAJ&#038;lpg=PA42&#038;ots=GjC2aCav4B&#038;dq=%22George%20H.%20Perry%22%20holyoke&#038;pg=PA42#v=onepage&#038;q=%22George%20H.%20Perry%22%20holyoke&#038;f=false\">George H. Perry<\/a>, a foreman of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zapix.com\/holyokemass\/hcv_1879\/par.html\">Parsons Paper Company<\/a>. Alden Press purchased the building in 1917 and built a rear addition. <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=fP4gAQAAMAAJ&#038;lpg=RA5-PA80&#038;ots=x2fTwz7Ow-&#038;dq=alden%20press%20holyoke&#038;pg=RA5-PA80#v=onepage&#038;q=alden%20press%20holyoke&#038;f=false\">As noted in<\/a> <em>The American Printer<\/em> of April 5, 1917:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Alden Press Moves and Enlarges<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>The Alden Press of Holyoke, of which Edward S. Alden is president, has purchased the three-story building at 214 Maple Street. The firm took possession of the building some months ago and has spent a large sum in equipping it as a first-class printing plant. The Artisan, a labor weekly, is published here and there is a job department also.
