Forbes<\/a>, who wished to build a library for Northampton, <a href=\"http:\/\/clio.fivecolleges.edu\/smith\/origins\/archives\/f5forbes2\/cover.htm\">left a bequest<\/a> which funded the construction of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historic-northampton.org\/virtual_tours\/architecture\/q3forbes.html\">Forbes Library<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/forbeslibrary.org\/info\/library-history\/\">Opened in 1894<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/forbeslibrary.org\/info\/architecture\/\">the Richardsonian Romanesque building<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=yGgsAAAAYAAJ&#038;pg=PA48-IA1#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">designed by<\/a> architect <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=W7BAAQAAMAAJ&#038;dq=William%20Brocklesby%20Hartford&#038;pg=PA496#v=onepage&#038;q=William%20Brocklesby%20Hartford&#038;f=false\">William Brocklesby<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=B18EAAAAYAAJ&#038;dq=William%20Brocklesby%20Hartford&#038;pg=PA463#v=onepage&#038;q=William%20Brocklesby%20Hartford&#038;f=false\">Hartford<\/a>.
