This predecessor was built in 1830, burned down in 1843 and was rebuilt the following year. The current <a href=\"http:\/\/wikimapia.org\/25678090\/Central-Exchange\">Central Exchange Building<\/a> was constructed in 1895-1896. Designed by architect <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_G._Preston\">W.G. Preston<\/a>, its first owner was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/cgi-bin\/fg.cgi\/page\/gr\/fg.cgi?page=gr&#038;GRid=110664028\">Elizabeth Davis Bliss Dewey<\/a>, wife of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/cgi-bin\/fg.cgi\/page\/gr\/fg.cgi?page=gr&#038;GRid=110664003\">Francis H. Dewey II<\/a>, a trustee of the Mechanics&#8217; National Bank and the Worcester Mechanics&#8217; Savings Bank, which would be early tenants of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/7652577@N05\/3025609220\/\">the building<\/a>.
