In the 1850s <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=4EMl471ivT8C&#038;lpg=PP1&#038;pg=PA89#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">the building<\/a> was known as the Pontoosic House Hotel and from the 1890s the hotel and <a href=\"http:\/\/musingsofanoldman.blogspot.com\/2006\/04\/foster-house-inn-place-since-1842.html\">tavern\/restaurant<\/a> was known as the Foster House.
