Putnam<\/a> erected <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=9iP5brDeiq4C&#038;lpg=PP1&#038;pg=PA176#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">an elaborately and eclectically ornamented house<\/a>, known as Greymoor, at 329 Essex Street in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salemweb.com\/guide\/arch\/houses2.shtml\">Salem<\/a>. From 1881 to 1921, it was owned by Frank Balch and then <a href=\"http:\/\/www.franktoker.pitt.edu\/tokerfile\/IMAXWeb\/WebPage-ImageF.00002.jpeg\">the house<\/a> served as the headquarters of American Legion Post 23. <a href=\"http:\/\/pinterest.com\/pin\/126874914473995483\/\">The house<\/a> was restored in 1979-1981.
