Known as the Cobb-Norton House, it is believed to have been built by <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/historyofcobbfam04cobb#page\/40\/mode\/2up\/\">Cephas Cobb<\/a> around 1830.  <a href=\"http:\/\/records.ancestry.com\/Cephas_Cobb_records.ashx?pid=14640650\">Cobb<\/a>&#8216;s son, Gilbert, was a newspaper publisher and town clerk of Westfield.  <a href=\"http:\/\/wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com\/cgi-bin\/igm.cgi?op=GET&#038;db=hillard_family&#038;id=I16217\">Gilbert Cobb<\/a>&#8216;s sister <a href=\"http:\/\/wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com\/cgi-bin\/igm.cgi?op=GET&#038;db=hillard_family&#038;id=I16220\">Clara<\/a> married <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110207205935\/http:\/\/hbsmith.com\/\">H.B. Smith<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masslive.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2009\/01\/after_156_years_westfields_hb.html\">a boiler manufacturer<\/a>.  In 1855, the house was sold to Lewis K. Norton, a hardware merchant and bank president.  The house was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.volunteermatch.org\/search\/org69811.jsp\">converted into a Red Cross headquarters<\/a> in 1945 through the gift of <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=NHBaAAAAYAAJ&#038;lpg=PA324&#038;ots=6kWk00dbOz&#038;dq=US%20whip%20westfield%20%22frederick%20l.%20parker%22&#038;pg=PA324#v=onepage&#038;q=US%20whip%20westfield%20%22frederick%20l.%20parker%22&#038;f=false\">Frederick L. Parker<\/a> and his wife.
