It was designed by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_Luckman\">Charles Luckman and Associates<\/a> for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prudential.com\/view\/page\">Prudential Insurance<\/a> and built between 1960 and 1964.  It towered over the nearby <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berkeley_Building\">John Hancock building of 1947<\/a>, which prompted the rival insurance company to build <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Hancock_Tower\">a taller tower<\/a> in 1975.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Prudential Tower, part of Boston&#8217;s Prudential Center complex in the Back Bay, is the city&#8217;s second tallest skyscraper.
