Griffin House<\/a>, at 185 Mill Street in Springfield, was built in 1904.  It was designed by Charles E. Hamilton in the Tudor or English Revival style.  <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=woDHv6sKqkQC&#038;pg=PA147#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">Griffin<\/a> was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/details\/mexicooftodaybys00grif\">an author<\/a> and managing editor of the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailyrepublican.com\/about.html\">Springfield Republican<\/a><\/em> newspaper for many years.  Today, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.superpages.com\/bp\/Springfield-MA\/Amity-Lodge-172-L2063532538.htm\">the house<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manta.com\/c\/mm8f8fb\/amity-lodge-172\">Amity Lodge 172<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ioof.org\/\">Independent Order of Odd Fellows<\/a>.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Solomon B.
