He was also the author of a famous work of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=Am152G8mqiUC&#038;pg=PP7#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States<\/a><\/em>.  <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joseph_Story_House\">Story&#8217;s house<\/a>, at 26 Winter Street in Salem, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trueknowledge.com\/q\/how_old_is_joseph_story_house\">was constructed<\/a> in 1811 <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=9iP5brDeiq4C&#038;lpg=PP1&#038;pg=PA20#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">by the builder Joshua Upham<\/a>.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/details\/reminiscencesofw00phil\">Story&#8217;s son<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=IVQq-NlVDG8C&#038;pg=PR4#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">poet<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/collectionsonline.lacma.org\/mwebcgi\/mweb.exe?request=record;id=13324;type=701\">sculptor<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Wetmore_Story\">William Wetmore Story<\/a>, was born in <a href=\"http:\/\/tps.cr.nps.gov\/nhl\/detail.cfm?ResourceId=1394&#038;ResourceType=Building\">the house<\/a> in 1819.  The current entry porch and the side wing with bay window were added in the early twentieth century by owner George C. Vaughn, <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=huwCAAAAYAAJ&#038;pg=PA70#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">president<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=t4spAAAAYAAJ&#038;pg=PA101#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">Salem Safe Deposit &#038; Trust Company<\/a>.  In 2006, artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsalemgirl.com\/about.html\">Kathleen Ward-Salem<\/a>, who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wickedlocal.com\/salem\/news\/x1817127996\">was raised in the Story House<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wickedlocal.com\/salem\/news\/x1817128484\">sold the residence<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/nshoremag.com\/the-joesph-story-house-in-salem\/\">lawyer Neil Chayet<\/a>, who has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenremodeling.org\/contractor\/article.aspx?resourceid=60\">renovated the house<\/a>, making it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salemnews.com\/lifestyle\/x1150913291\/A-Restoration-Story\">energy-efficient and environmentally friendly<\/a>.
