Payson<\/a>.  In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/details\/theoldentimeseri17970gut\">a book<\/a> published in 1886, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gutenberg.org\/files\/17970\/17970-h\/17970-h.htm\">it&#8217;s explained<\/a> that<a href=\"http:\/\/www.archive.org\/stream\/visitorsguidesal00hunt#page\/139\/mode\/1up\/\"> Payson<\/a>, &#8220;at the age of eighty, is still <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=Cphg7XKJC0UC&#038;pg=PA239#v=onepage&#038;q&#038;f=false\">cashier of the First National (formerly the Commercial) Bank<\/a>, to which office he was elected in 1826.&#8221;  From 1850 to 1911, the house was home to the Fettyplace family.  The house is now <a href=\"http:\/\/ameliapaysonhouse.blogspot.com\/\">a Bed &#038; breakfast<\/a> named the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ameliapaysonhouse.com\/\">Amelia Payson House<\/a> in honor of Edward&#8217;s wife.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Payson-Fettyplace House, at 16 Winter Street in Salem, was built around 1845 for Edward H.
