Built in 1844 in the Greek Revival style, the <a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:Oliver_Hastings_House_(Cambridge,_MA)_-_date_unknown.jpg\">Hastings House<\/a> was sold in 1888 to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Lawrence_(7th_Bishop_of_Massachusetts)\">William Lawrence<\/a>.  <a href=\"http:\/\/query.nytimes.com\/gst\/abstract.html?res=9C07E4D71739E233A25751C1A9649D946496D6CF\">Lawrence<\/a> was a professor and dean of the nearby Episcopal Theological School and later became <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diomass.org\/about\/history\">Bishop of Massachusetts<\/a>.  <a href=\"http:\/\/isc.astro.cornell.edu\/~jbs\/gallery\/main.php?g2_itemId=17860\">The house<\/a> was acquired by the school (now the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eds.edu\/\">Episcopal Divinity School<\/a>) in 1924.    <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oliver Hastings was a nineteenth century architect-builder, who designed his own home on Brattle Street in Cambridge.
